Writing some more songs… Taking some lessons… Getting ready. More to come soon!

I’d also like to say this… What I’m working on I’d classify as Americana. It’s not from New Jersey, it’s not The Gaslight Anthem, in fact, it’s not even mine, but it’s ours…

I’m looking to the people who used folk and country music as a tradition and took what was past and moved forward. Wilco, Ryan Adams, Steve Earle, Guy Clark, the Highwaymen, Bob Dylan, etc…

I’m not writing about straw hats and gin joints. I’m not writing about nostalgia or a time I wasn’t born it. I’m writing about the last two years of my life since we wrote handwritten.

This project is going to be based on things I learned early on musically, which were my mother’s folk songs. We also listened to a lot of early country.

I’d like to write my years down.

Here’s to a new tide in haunted waters.

I hope you’ll enjoy it.

Brian’s Guitar Rig…
Someone asked me about my guitar rig recently, so here it is… Now, this changes ALL the time, so it’s different from tour to tour, sometimes from show to show.  I like to try new stuff and keep revolving things in and out.
There’s a few things missing… for shows we use a Fender Eric Clapton Twinolux set to half power with this 1956 Fender Deluxe shown here. Sometimes the Deluxe gets replaced with a Penn Amp Tremlux built byBilly Penn at 300 Guitars. They’re both on all the time and they run just on the clean side of dirty. For pedals, I usually use that Lovepedal Eternity there, or for any leads I use the Fulltone Soulbender.  The Pedal looking thing is a Fulltone Deja Vibe, which I got from listening to way too much Tom Petty.  It’s awesome, and it’s always set to Chorus.   The main guitar I use is a Gibson ES -345 that Nash Guitars converted into a 335 and painted Pelham Blue.  (thanks Brendan O’ Brien) it has Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups in it.
So that’s what I’m using most of the time, subject to change at any moment…

I’m working on a lot of things, it’s been a while, I apologize.   I’ve had some really amazing things happen and some really terrible things in the last couple months.   I’m definitely on  a new page, and I have to start there.  So, I’m going to make a record by myself, hopefully sometime this year.  I’ve just started to work on these songs now, as well as new Gaslight Anthem songs for our next record.
I’ve learned there’s too much to be done and not a lot of time to do it in.  Things can change overnight.  So I’m going to do my best to get as much music out there as I can while I’m young enough and fortunate enough to have people listening.
There’s no termoil or anything with Gaslight, we’re going to be writing too, but I’m sure we’re gonna need a breather after this year of touring before we go in to make our next record.   So since I can’t sit still, I’m gonna make another record.   It’s what happens when you don’t do drugs, you end up with a lot of down time.  So I fill that time with songs now.
Here’s to looking forward to what comes out.
See you guys soon.I don’t love pictures…
